MEDICINE DEN GUIDE
(Read before posting)
Hello there. I see You've come to visit
the glorious den of medicine and wonder.
My partner and I will be caring for our little
minions(you), and so on. Just remember
to follow our rules. Threads that do not
will be locked and ignored, but occasionally
followed by a reason why. Now get on with
your reading of the rules.
Rules
THREAD RULES
1.) Always tag me and/or my partner, because we don't always check the den.
2.) Your injured cats are to be brought to us. We won't come searching for your injury thread.
3.) Threads such as 'I want to learn about herbs!' and 'I want to become a Medicine Cat!' Will be locked, occasionally followed by a reason why. If you want to be a Medicine Cat, look at the staff sign-ups to see if there are any open spots. I recommend looking in the other posts too, because the main post isn't always up-to-date.
4.) Do not come here without PMing my partner or/and I and receiving an okay. If a cat is really sick, and is close to your cat, and the thread is open, or has tagged you, you may come without permission.
5.) Please do not have more than two illness threads, unless it is continuing off one, but please say 'part two' or something in the thread title so I and/or my partner doesn't mistaken it as yet another thread in one two week time span.
INJURY/ILLNESS RELATED RULES
1.) If your character gets something worse than allergies or a cold, you are to RP them with said illness for at least a week and maybe some more.
2.) If your character is to break a bone, you must RP them with said illness for two to three weeks and you might have to some more.
3.) If you want your cat to die, you must ask for permission, or buy it from the store. Either way, you must PM Mistystar, and my partner and/or I.
4.) If a cat is to, for some reason, lose a limb, then they must RP with that injury for the rest of their lives. This also goes for becoming blind, deaf or mute.
5.) If you want to receive a scar from your injury, go ahead! Just keep in mind, that nearly drowning in a smooth river, would not give you a scar. Do try to be realistic.
OTHER RULES
1.) If you are not a Medicine Cat, or if you don't have permission to know herbs, don't pretend you know a certain type of herb or treatment. Obvious and common ones (such as poppy seeds or cobwebs) are fine. But if you ever go "Give Exampleheart and Happyrainbow some tansy and chervil." you could get yourself in a mess. You have been warned.2.) Things such as broken spines, limb removal, or a face being removed (*cough*Brightheart*cough*) extremely difficult, unrealistic, and you will need to get permission for anything of that sort of thing. (Aka Mistystar, Redstar. I'd appreciate it if you PMed me and/or my partner too, for we can get suspicious if it isn't listed or known to us that you got permission.)
4.) Please do not create a thread for no reason. Threads should only be made if you want an injury treated, your character is sick, or you are visiting some cat sick. If you want to RP with any medicine cat in this den for whatever reason, PM them.
5.) You will be PMed if you break one of these rules, and your warning meter might go up. Once this meter reaches three, you will be banned for an amount of time. Once you get back on, if your meter is ever to go up again, you will be permanently banned. This goes for all rules broken, and depending on how big of a rule it is, and what staff sees it and what their opinion is, will result in a bigger ban.
INJURIES AND ILLNESSES
ILLNESSES
Chest Infections
Whitecough and greencough are the most common chest infections known to the Clan cats. Whitecough is the milder form, but if untreated, it can develop into the much more severe greencough. Cats usually catch it during leaf-fall and leaf-bare, and sometimes it develops into large-scale epidemics. It can be fatal for elders and kits, and it has claimed the lives of several cats. It spreads quickly and is highly contagious.
Whitecough you may get without permission, Greencough you should mention it to I and/or my partner and Mistystar, and Blackcough MUST have permission.
Poisoning
Poisoning is the ingestion of a substance that causes harm to the body, such as:
Eating or drinking poisonous substances or plants such as deathberries. Kits are the ones who usually fall victim to this, being curious and unaware of the danger.
Eating poisoned or rotten prey or drinking tainted water.
Inhaling too much smoke from a fire.
Being bitten by a venomous animal such as a snake.
If only a small quantity of poison is ingested, the cat usually just receives a bellyache, but larger amounts can cause death.
Non-severe poison does not require permission, but nead death expirinces and death is only permitted through perission, or to be bought through the store.
Rat-Borne Infections
The cats sometimes fall victims to infections carried by rats. One of these infections is called Carrionplace
You do not need permission for this unless it is a near-death expirince or it kills your charecter.
Loss of Sensory Perception
A cat may lose his or her eyesight or hearing due to old age or from accidents and infections, or birth defects. These conditions usually end their career as a warrior, as they cannot hunt or fight efficiently, and must retire as elders. Kits born with defects usually die young, unless they have special skills compensating it. Kits that are white with blue eyes have a much higher chance of being born deaf.
You are allowed to have birth defects, but not allowed unless given permission to manuly lose your cat's sences.
Joint Aches
A condition usually associated with elders, the joints gradually degenerating with age, causing pain and difficulty to move. Damp environments can cause the appearance of this condition, so apprentices must make sure that the moss they gather for bedding is completely dry.
You may have this condition without permission.
Toothache
A toothache is caused by a cracked tooth, cavities, or an infection in the mouth.
You may have this condition without permission.
Fever
Fever is an abnormally high temperature of the body. It is not a disease in itself, but it usually signs the presence of an infection, such as greencough or an infected wound. If needed, it can be treated with feverfew, borage or lavender.
If the fever is not assosiated with any infection or sickness, you may have this condition without permission, but if it is check the notes on that sickness or infection instead.
Chill
Chills are mostly associated with cold weather or being submerged in cold water for a long period of time. Although this condition is mild and is not a disease, it has claimed the lives of weak cats. Kits and elders are more at risk of dying when they get a chill.
You may have this condition without permission if it's not too bad.
Other Diseases
Several other diseases are out there; however, the cats do not have names for it.
You may have this condition without permission if it is not too bad. I it is, PM us.
INJURIES
Wounds are injuries when the skin and the muscles beneath are torn, cut, or punctured. They may put a cat's life in danger due to blood loss, infections, or the damage of the organs. Wounds are the most common injuries, due to the cats always fighting enemy Clans, badgers, or foxes.
Minor wounds heal on their own in no time, but severe wounds must be treated by a medicine cat. This treatment includes cleaning it thoroughly with the tongue, stopping the bleeding by pressing cobwebs on it, and applying poultices to prevent infection and help it to heal. Herbs used in the poultices include goldenrod, marigold, burdock root or (in the case of rat bites) wild garlic. If the wound becomes infected, chervil or horsetail is used as well. The pain can be eased with poppy seeds or willow bark.
Sprains
Sprains are injuries to ligaments of a joint, caused by being stretched beyond their normal capacity and possibly torn. It causes severe pain and decreased ability to move the joint. The cat must rest for several days.
You must inform us that you are having this but under normal circumstances, you just need to inform us, and no more. After you PM us you can make the thread but we might still say no.
Joint Dislocation
Joint dislocation is the displacement of a bone from its normal joint.
You must inform us that you are having this but under normal circumstances, you just need to inform us, and no more. After you PM us you can make the thread but we might say no still.
Cracked Pads
The paw pads may crack while walking long distances on hard surfaces, or due to cold weather. Elders are especially prone to this condition.
You may have this condition without permission.
Broken Bones
A broken bone is usually the result of an accident, such as falling down from a high place,or being hit by a monster. Cats most often break their legs, but the injury usually results in the cat remaining crippled for the rest of his or her life. A more severe injury is when a cat breaks his or her backbone. This results in the cat being unable to feel or move parts of his or her body. If the break is bad enough the cat will be killed on or shortly after impact. Your cat could get fluid in his or her lungs and eventually die from not exercising.
You must have permission form my partner and I, plus Mistystar.

Come again and don't take more than one waffle from the kitchen on your way out.
I know if you do.
